I say the word "glance" was probably not meant for this excuse. A year glance probably would not produce an entire tractor-trailer so close that you cant avoid hitting it and the impact is hard enough to make the patrol car become wedged under the semi. No, it sounds like the sergeant on the police force has some "splaining" to do.
