b'Kristine Mays is a sculptor, artist, and visionary who tells vast and powerful stories of our ancestors. She shapes metal pieces, building permanent, touchable shadows that look like they’ve been forecasted from the past to be and resonate in our present. Her most recent installation, Rich Soil, is placed directly in an organic garden environment. Her art is powerful, beautiful, and incredibly resonant. Even though she is not a sewer or quilter, we’re incredibly lucky to have her on the Stitch Please podcast to share her story of being a self-taught artist, providing opportunities for reflection through her art, and how the medium of art can connect us to our ancestors. Tune in to this episode and listen as Kristine shares her thoughts on art as a powerful tool that honors our history, exploring the parameters around God, the importance of art and critical thinking, and crafting through the lens of Black Women’s Liberation and Black feminism.'
