Sitcky Jazz interview of Shriekback / Barry Andrews

Published: Jan. 25, 2021, 7 p.m.

The band that wrote the song, and inspired "Sticky Jazz". Barry Andrews of Shriekback, one of my favourite musicians of all time.  Shriekback are a band that will sing about invisible rays, princesses being sold into slavery, and Jihad, in one song. They have been featured in movies by Michael Mann, in the "Pre Silence of the lambs" movie "Manhunter", and apparently even wall insulation in New Zeland.  Barry is one of the most creative people in music, he has given us music to make you dig deep to figure out what it's about. We talk about Shriekback history, bands they have worked with, and the new music on the way.  Barry explains his music, and art with all the wit and humour of the writing process, the stories, and meaning of his work, and provides an oral history of what went into the lyrics.  You can find all of the music at the song links below.  *The songs in this episode were as follows.  Nemesis, Come Open Up Your Filthy Hear To Me, Lined Up, Putting All The Lights Out,  http://www.shriekback.com/  facebook [https://www.facebook.com/shriekback]  instagram [https://www.instagram.com/realshriekback/]  youtube [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFXfreGX1J5ywBn2j4V0Plw]
