In this section, we discover what we were seeing in the very first lines of Chapter 1, where it's clear that someone is reading a summary of the customs of Lindon's people. There's a god-like character named Suriel who is watching over everything, and she seems to believe some shit is about to go down because she disguises herself as a human before descending to get involved.
Meanwhile, Lindon is out here fighting grown-ass men and lowkey cheating and I'm not mad at him.
