So this is the episode where Sonea makes the decision to do something that she never thought she would ever be able to justify, and that is practice black magic.
I figured it was coming at this point, and the fact that Akkarin is showing her all about the conflict between Kyralia and Sechaka but doesn't expect her to want to step in feels a little disingenous to me. Like come on, dude, you know how she's going to react. Just hush and make a back-up plan for yourself.
Meanwhile there's this whole other massacre that has happened, and poor Lorlen has to cope with that while wondering if someone that he'd previously thought was his closest friend is the murderer. Between him dealing with this and Rothen watching Sonea grow more comfortable with Akkarin, everyone is dealing with some heavy emotional shit right now.
