Many thanks to Patrick for commissioning this episode of Deadwood! I'm really enjoying this show a lot and it's been desperately hard to shut things off and wait to record on it and not watch the next one. This show is gritty in the best, least pretentious sense of the word, and I'm all about it.
This episode deals with the unexpected (at least for me) fallout after a man is summarily executed in the street for being involved in the slaughter of an innocent family. A little girl survives, and while I initially thought that was good news, I'm not totally sure that's true now. The Doc susses out pretty quick that she might be in danger, and rises in my estimation several notches.
Also, shit doesn't go well for Brom, who is so green and so clueless that he doesn't recognize he's being played from every conceivable angle. His wife, who is an addict, seems smart as a whip but she's suffering alongside a regrettably foolish man. A terrible combination, foolishness and money and confidence.
This show is so good. Thanks a ton for listening, and thank you again to Patrick!
