So I think I've already said how into this book I am, but I want to reiterate how much I love Garth Nix's worldbuilding and how much I wish we'd gotten more of this before getting into the epic struggles of some of the prior books. I still loved those books, so it's not like they suffered terribly, but I think they could have made so much more impact with more background.
I am just so interested in the way the hierarchies in Belisaere work, and the customs that are driven by them, and the political machinations. Also, I'm desperately curious about Clariel because of her affinity for trees and the way she seems to literally wilt without them. And now her cousin is in class with her! Whaaaa!
Also, she gets her first magic lesson. It doesn't go great.
