Yukidaruma

Yukidaruma is a first level evocation with an instant casting time, a thirty-minute duration, and a material requirement of an amount of water which is consumed by the spell.

This spell produces a perfectly round snowball in the palm which is proportionate to the hand.  The snowball, when created, is about zero degrees Fahrenheit but the castor feels no cold when holding it.  Once the snowball leaves the hand, another appears.  The ratio at which the spell consumes the required water is ten to one.  One cup of water can produce ten cups of snow.  The number of snowballs is dependant on the size of the castor's hand. Generally, children can create twice as many snowballs as adults given the same amount of water, but an adult's snowball will be twice as large as a child's.

Yukidaruma was discovered in Japan in 1804 and revolutionized the food and trade industry by allowing meat, milk, and fruit to remain fresh longer.  The use of the spell dwindled with the invention of the refrigerator but it is still widely used.  Today, on Christmas Day, we at DOMA hope you will enjoy this spell with your family and friends.
