Hondong

Hondong is a level four enchantment with a range of ninety feet, a duration of about a minute, and requires concentration to maintain.  It also requires three walnuts which are consumed by the spell.

Hondong creates a ten-foot sphere of electric energy which can disrupt the normal flow of electrons.  This energy causes a temporary, non-damaging reduction of brain function, which can cause confusion, hallucinations, and muscle spasms.

Discovered in Korea in 1950, this non-lethal deterrent has been in use by law enforcement in the United States since the early 1990s.  But, nearly a decade earlier, it was in use by another government agency, the US postal service.  Mail carriers needed a strong but non-damaging deterrent against untethered dogs on their mail routes.  When first implementing the spell, the Postal Service spent over half a million dollars issuing walnuts to mail carriers.

Hondong is authorized for civilian use but not everywhere.  The spell is banned in New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Wisconsin, California, and Washington D.C.
