Gōngshè

Gōngshè is a fifth level divination cast upon the self with a minute casting time and a material requirement of a conductive rod, like copper or steel.

Gōngshè allows one to gain knowledge of the nearby geography.  With practice, one can find bodies of water, prevalent plants and animals, and buildings.  To cast,  insert the metal rod into the ground at least eighteen inches.  The spell will last as long as one holds the rod.  The information received is dependent on the composure of the soil.  Very moist, swamp-like soil gives the best results and dry stony soil, the worst.   Concrete and most human-made structures hamper gōngshè, so best use it in natural areas.

Discovered in China in the early second century, gōngshè benefits hikers and surveyors today.
