chekinai

Chekinai is a first level conjuration with a range of sixty feet, a duration of one minute, and a material requirement of a few ounces of oil or grease.

Upon casting, the ground within a ten-foot radius circle becomes exceptionally slick.  The molecular adhesion of the surface material breaks down causing the coefficient of friction to drop to nearly zero.  Even coarse material such as concrete or sand will become smoother than polished ice.

Chekinai is a newly discovered spell from 2015 out of the Institute of Magic in Canada.

Chekinai is a useful aid in moving large pieces of machinery across factory floors and positioning aircraft at passenger gates.

During the 2015/2016 season, The World Curling Federation temporarily banned the spell, and subsequently made drastic changes to its regulations to address a growing concern among players.  It’s not that the players are opposed to magic in general; they’re just worried the spell is altering the fundamentals of the sport in troubling ways by drastically reducing the level of skill required.  As of today, the spell is banned from the sport.
