Spoken Word

Our late night DJ 'Midnight Marsh' is back on the airwaves. This time he's got something to say about..the spoken word!
But don't think for a minute it's going to have some Beatnik coffee house snapping fingers vibe! The first track 'Rust & Paprika' by Bloke will get you up and on your feet! It might be an offshoot of Carl's band Happyhead with his mate Bill Clift, but mostly it'll give you Happy Feet!
The next track is from the Shriekback album 'Why Anything? Why This?'. It's called 'The Painter Paints'. It's a prose poem. No! It's an abstract essay. No! It's a pop song! The painter paints, the writer writes. What will you do tonight?
David Barrett and Carl have been working together for  quite awhile. Check out 'Falling Inside', it's an interesting observation of more things than I could possibly list here!
Geoff Woolley has been working with Carl the longest. Including his early band 'Out On Blue Six'. This track is done under the name 'The Palace Dogs'. You'll hear a familiar voice throughout. It's a great track, and I think you'll put it on repeat. It's also never been released so ya gotta check it out!
Carl shares the spotlight with fellow Shriekback bandmate Barry Andrews. His spoken word contribution is 'Win a Night With a Well Known Paranoiac'. Just give it a listen. It's worth it.
