Published: May 19, 2022, 5:41 p.m.

It feels great to be back!

Before we get into the topic of the day, a couple of very important announcements:

First, I will be hosting a Trauma Workshop next Saturday, 5/28, at 11:30 am MST. Details to come!

Second, in the next couple of weeks, I’ll be launching a brand new podcast called Trauma Talks. We will talk about trauma, but we will also examine the ways in which trauma becomes our voice. I’m super excited about this and I’ll let you know as we get closer to the launch date.

In today’s episode, I talk about a friend's conversation with someone who told her that everyone who practices meditation does so only to use the practice as a means of escape.

While it is true that many people do, in fact, use these practices in exactly this way, it is also true that people like Thich Nhat Hanh practice engaged Buddhism, achieving the exact opposite effect of escape.

And it is also true that people come to these practices to sell more stuff to people or to get more productivity from employees.

The point is that these practices are a set of tools that can be useful in all these endeavors.

But the practice is the same in every one.

So it really comes down to the intention one brings to these practices.

I go into great depth and detail in today’s episode, which you can watch here:
