I get asked this question quite a bit:
\n
\nHow has mindfulness made you a better parent?
\n
\nMy answer starts with an assurance that the skill of mindfulness has indeed helped me be a better parent.
\n
\nBut then I quickly add that it\u2019s a little more complicated than it might seem.
\n
\nMindfulness is not a specific parenting technique.
\n
\nAnd even as a mindfulness practitioner, you must decide on parenting techniques and styles just like every other parent does.
\n
\nBut when you develop the skill of mindfulness - the ability to be aware of your internal and external experiences without judgment - you parent from a place of presence, honesty, and authenticity.
\n
\nThis allows you to connect and attune to your kids on a deep emotional level that is far beyond the behavior that most parenting styles address.
\n
\nAnd this indeed makes you a better parent, no matter what style of parenting you employ.
\n
\nWould you like to learn how to develop this skill?
\n
\nLet me know in the comments.
