The Risk of Measles in International Travelers and the Role of Infection Prevention

Published: Jan. 20, 2020, 5:30 p.m.

This episode describes the risk of measles in international travelers, as well as possible risks during local spread. During the recent measles outbreak, many cases were seen from local areas in several cities in under vaccinated communities. The approach during such times should include both risk assessment and isolation of individuals who have travel-related or community-related illness, protection of vulnerable hospital populations, and close collaboration between hospitals and public health.
