"Called to Lead; The 3 D's for good success."

Greetings, Summit Leaders. When I first joined IBM, I recall being filled with excitement by the fact that I was now a member of one of the best companies on the planet. Can you imagine a country boy like me who had never traveled outside of my home town more than a dozen times, including my first trip to college? Now, I find myself here with an opportunity to examine my journey and the journeys of great leaders. I am fascinated by the biographies of great leaders. I look for principles, insights that help shape my perspective and gain understanding regarding the impact and purpose of my life. One of my most significant discoveries revealed is that you and I are called to lead. We are destined to make an impact through how we live and what we not only believe but also what we practice in our daily lives as leaders. Great leaders manifest three essential qualities to accomplishing "good-success." They are disciplined, have a burning desire, and fully dedicated to moving ahead on their life and career journey. Here are several ideas for us to consider. There is one Perfect Leader we strive to become like in our vision of perfection. While we can not be perfect as leaders, I like Vince Lombardi Jr.'s quote. "Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence." Let's chase perfection!
