Christina Waters - Rare Science
Christina Waters is the CEO and president of RARE Science. The mission is to identify more immediate therapeutic solutions for kids with rare diseases.
There may be 7-8000 rare diseases, but because of their rarity, they are difficult to diagnose. That delays a treatment, if one exists at all, and makes it more urgent for the families with children who are afflicted.
RARE Science is working to increase our understanding of the biology of rare disease. Christina believes that by understanding the biology of rare diseases, we can actually learn more about and make progress with common diseases as well.
In this episode she talks about the progress they are making and the unusual way they are connecting people around the world inside and outside of science who are contributing and making a difference in this effort.
