#29: Why you should stop marketing and focus on positioning your brand

This episode is about marketing. I want to dive down because it's so important to clear some of the air on marketing. We're all seeing millions and millions of posts and ads and tactics about funnel-building this and list-building that, and advertising here and there and trying this technique and that hack and this shortcut and this widget and I don't think any of it works. I know that's a harsh thing to say.

But when you're actually just trying to get the next sale and the next sale and the next sale and perhaps actually be beyond that and maybe focused on how to move people into specific kinds of sales and offers, then you still need to be really intentional and you still really need to connect with people. And most of those marketing tactics out there aren't going to work because you don't know enough data about your audience.

What you actually need is to ensure you're messaging and offers convert first. That's called positioning. Positioning is all about communicating your value so that people understand what you do, who it's for, and they get excited to go the next step.

Do all this and then you can scale and know it'll be worth it.
