Not one, but two broken backs, an almost amputated leg and a beloved partner lost unexpectedly to suicide... Yet what does Kath Koschel have to say?

"I found a few things at rock bottom. Gratitude and kindness."

As Kath Koschel shares the array of somewhat unimaginable hurdles she has faced, it's the gifts of adversity and gratitude that held her focus every step of the way... and the profound ripple-effect of this is reaching across the globe.

In her mid-twenties, Kath broke her back and was told she may never walk again. Shortly afterwards, she lost her beloved partner Jim to suicide. Then, just as she was piecing her life back together, she was hit by a drunk driver while cycling and forced to relearn to walk a second time.

In the midst of these harrowing experiences, Kath believes she experienced two things in large amounts: adversity and kindness. After relearning to walk for the second time in her life, this realisation kickstarted a 2-month journey around Australia which relied solely on the kindness of strangers. No cash, credit card food or water – and no help from family or friends!

From this journey came the Kindness Factory – a Not for Profit now based across 3 countries which has seen millions of acts of kindness logged. Under Kath’s leadership, the Kindness Factory has worked with Kaplan to develop the Kindness Curriculum, which is embedded in thousands of schools teaching children the power of kindness.

This conversation holds the potential to profoundly reshape your outlook.. It sure did mine!
