Sy Nadji, owner of William St Gym and Fight Promoter for Rebellion Muay Thai often doesn't let me talk in the gym... and you can imagine how I feel about this. So to get around that speed hump I've invited him behind the mic for a banter.
\nGenius, I know!!
\nI was keen to hear a little from Sy about how he built two businesses single handedly and simultaneously to a successful level (William Street Gym and Rebellion Muay Thai). Businesses that both hold their own when it came to a solid reputation... a reputation that due to their nature relies heavily on the person in the drivers seat.
\nOld mate also shared a bit about his background, such as fleeing Iran with his family at 10 throughout the war to relocate in Melbourne. Void of any grasp on the English language when his feet his Australian turf, Sy had to navigate communication, education, life and adapt on the fly... Developing an interest and passion around multiple martial arts along the way.
\nCoaching fighters and coaching humans is at times an intimate privilege. One that holds more responsibility than just how to punch a face hard. I'm always interested in hearing other coaches perspectives and experiences with human behaviour and how it evolves throughout these combat sports, so of course we banter about this too.
\nYou sure don't have to be a sport or combat sport lover to get a lot out of listening to this convo... but if you are. I think you're going to love it!
