Nathan Stewart is a fellow Melburnian and a world class athlete across multiple sports, having won himself GOLD at the World Dwarf Games.

Born with Dwarfism it’s fair to say there were punches to roll along the way but if there’s one thing Nathan proves it’s that it takes more than stature to stand tall in this world of ours. From navigating the usual trials and tribulations of growing up that we all deal with, Nathan shares his experience from the lens of someone with their own set of genetically driven differences.

What's it like getting around in a perfectly healthy body with a perfectly healthy mind, yet to be met with (often unintentional) ignorance, curiosity and misunderstanding. Like I've said before on this show in similar yet different circumstances we don't often even give it a thought until we meet face to face with someone living with the condition.. and by then, our instinctive curiosity or biased thinking makes for an often not-so-awesome interaction. One thing we talk about however, which I love, is the grit that is developed and thus becomes an important attribute for sporting endeavours like Nathans.

If you are (or know of) someone who has dwarfism and you want to reach out to Nathan and get involved in some of the communities he mentions shoot me an email and I'll put you in touch.
