Perhaps the main talking point from Parliament's first day back yesterday was when Maori-Party co-leader Rawiri Waititi was booted out of the house for refusing to wear a tie. Mr Waititi claimed that he was wearing "Maori business attire", including a "Maori tie" in the form of a hei tiki pendant around his neck. But Speaker Trevor Mallard wasn't having it. Nathan Rarere spoke with the man with perhaps the most famous bow-ties in New Zealand's political history, former MP Peter Dunne.
