Remfry sat down for a lengthy, ramble chat with his good friend Vlad Matveikov to talk about the music industry at large and where we are at the end of 2020. They cover topics that have affected the industry at large this year, how Covid-19 affected the industry, the impact of livestreams and the ongoing debate about streaming platforms and how bands make money from their art.

Vlad is one of the founders of Small Pond, a record label, studio and practise space based in Brighton. Bands who have released music through Small Pond include CLT DRP, Bitch Falcon, Wild Cat Strike, Natalie Evans, The Physics House Band, Mutiny on the Bounty, Luo and Kint. Remfry asks Vlad about how he came to Brighton, build a recording studio and practise space from scratch with absolutely no previous building experience and setup Small Pond as a record label and successful venture that has helped to nurture some of the most talented, forward-thinking acts on the South Coast.

They also discuss Bad Pond Festival, an annual event that is streaming live for free on Saturday 19th December. The stream will also feature pre-recorded interviews by Remfry that will air between sets.

Bands playing Bad Pond are ...

- Jamie Lenman

- Saint Agnes

- A.A. Williams

- Orchards

- Gender Roles

- CLT DRP

- Yumi and the Weather
