AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Governor Greg Abbott and with Chihuahua Governor Mar\xeda Eugenia Campos Galv\xe1n met at the state Capitol in Austin to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between their states.
The agreement aims to enhance border security measures in order to prevent undocumented immigration and drugs crossing from Chihuahua into Texas and improve the flow of traffic across the bridges between Chihuahua and Texas.
The agreement goes into effect immediately.
Under the agreement, Chihuahua will increase inspections of trucks crossing into Texas. As a result, the Texas Department of Public Safety will no longer inspect all the trucks coming into Texas from Chihuahua.
