Contaminated Scopes and Litigation

Thousands of people every year have an endoscopy, a non-surgical procedure to examine their digestive tract for potential issues. Unfortunately, the use of a contaminated duodenoscope or scope, manufactured by Olympus Corporation. of the Americas, the device used in the procedure, led to a superbug outbreak at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.  In this podcast, Ringler Radio host Larry Cohen  talks with Attorney Pete Kaufman from Panish Shea & Boyle LLP, as they take a look at the use of contaminated scopes on patients, its impact, the FDA’s role, and litigation.
