b'2017 has been a remarkable year for the United States, both politically and financially. Beginning with Donald Trump’s inauguration, it’s been a year of Congressional gridlock, a high-stakes political investigation, and unprecedented actions – and tweets – from a U.S. President. The current bull market (typically defined by a continuous rise in stock prices without being interrupted by a 20% decline) is now over eight and a half years old – one of the longest in history.

This has left investors wondering…how long can this bull market continue? Is this current market situation entirely new, or have we seen things like this in the past? Should we be worried? Is it possible to invest strategically to minimize the impact of an inevitable market downturn?
