The New York Times\\u2019\\xa0Overlooked\\xa0series\\xa0was introduced on March 8, 2018 for International Women's Day, when they published fifteen obituaries of "overlooked" women, and has since become a hugely successful bi-weekly feature in the paper.

\\n

As part Relevant Tones: Live,\\xa0Access Contemporary Music\\xa0has commissioned five composers to write musical portraits of the lives in the series, including surrealist painter and mystic\\xa0Remedios Varo, singer-songwriter\\xa0Judee Sill, journalist, teacher and political activist\\xa0Jovita Id\\xe1r,\\xa0food inventor and war heroine\\xa0Maria Orosa\\xa0and the first African-American registered nurse in the United States,\\xa0Mary Eliza Mahoney.

Each new string quartet was performed live by\\xa0The\\xa0Overlook,\\xa0and host\\xa0Seth Boustead\\xa0talked with special guests\\xa0Amy Padnani, creator of the\\xa0Overlooked\\xa0series, filmmaker\\xa0Vanessa Gould\\xa0and obituary writer\\xa0Jacques Kelley\\xa0in between each performance.
