“Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.” - Gabby Villafan

This Real Talk features an inspiring conversation around law, culture, and kinder self-talk with Gabby Villafan, currently a law student at Drexel University!

Gabby was motivated to pursue law school after the powerful experiences she had being represented by pro bono attorneys, and representing clients pro bono as a paralegal.

Born in California to parents who immigrated from Bolivia and El Salvador, Gabby shares about how her appreciation for her roots, cultural heritage and family increased when she moved to Bolivia at 16 with her family.

Her time in Bolivia showed her how important connection with other people is, and to this day is an integral part of her life and she navigates through the rigors of law school.

Gabby talks about the importance of maintaining healthy boundaries, as well as the need for all of us to be kinder to ourselves: “The way we talk to our friends is so different from the way we talk to ourselves. The way we talk to ourselves needs to be with more love, more grace and more compassion.”
