b"for the first time on this show, I am making a tribute to a label\\u2026AVI records. The reason why I chose AVI is because of their unique and wide spectrum of styles. AVI or American Variety International was independent record label established in 1968 in LA by Seymour Heller, Ed Cobb and Ray Harris. In the M70s, they recognized the selling potential of mixes and extended cuts\\u2026and they started fusing funk, latin, deep disco and jazz styles\\u2026in a unique way\\u2026that was mostly responsibility of their in-house production duo of Laurin Rinder and Michael Lewis. They pumped out amazing records from M70s to the 80s\\u2026under different line-ups and projects. In 1997, the AVI label\\u2019s catalogue was acquired by MCA Records, and eventually by Universal. Unfortunately, all AVI's master tapes were destroyed in the 2008 fire at the Universal studios\\u2026.which makes their albums valuable collector items.
