Today we pay respect to a Detroit legend...Mr. Michael Stokes\\u2026He has had a prolific career as record producer, keyboardist, composer, arranger and engineer. From his humble roots in Detroit to the studios in NY and California, he has amassed a stunning resume that includes work with artists such as Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince, Bill Withers, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, Rick James, and many more. He got his start in the 60s working in NYC and Detroit for various labels. By 1970, he was writing and producing for the legendary Sussex label. By the M70s he moved to Roadshow Records where they had outstanding success with Brass Construction, B.T. Express, Enchantment... By the 70s he formed Infinity Records. and in the E80s Michael took over as A&R director at A&M Records where he signed the up-and-coming Janet Jackson. Through the 80s he continued to impress with his work...and he is still working.. I went deep and wide into my collection to bring you tunes that would show Michael Stokes\\u2019 important work\\u2026 from soul to 70s funk and boogie.
