Born in Pune, Mandar was initiated into music by his parents. He received his initial training in music from Srimati Jyotsna Bakshi for 2 years. For the last 20 years, he has received rigorous and extensive taleem under the able guidance of Pandit Vijay Koparkar ji. Mandar has a wide repertoire of Raags and bandishes in his music. He has been performing in concerts throughout India and has also performed in the USA. Apart from khayal music, he also performs Marathi natyasangeet, bhajans. He has bagged the first prize at the national level in the All India Radio classical music competition. Presented with many prestigious awards and scholarships, Mandar is blessed by many senior musicians. As a guru, he is imparting taleem to young aspiring students of music. As a qualified engineer, he is also working as a software professional.
