E42 Responding to Active Attacks

Although a rare occurrence in Canada, active attacker incidents have been dominating the news in recent weeks with shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde.

In E42 hosts Luciano Cedrone, CPP CPD and Brian Claman talk with special guest, Ret. Dep. Chief Christopher Fernandes of Durham Police Service on the phenomenon of active attacker.

Chris was a police officer for over 32, 28 of which were with Toronto Police Service where he held the rank of Superintendent, commanding the Divisional Policing Support Unit, which consisted of the Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy (TAVIS) Unit, the Transit Patrol Unit, and the Community Mobilization Unit. He was also a Crisis and Hostage Negotiator during his eight years as a member of the Toronto Police Emergency Task Force.
