It may not always be obvious, but hormones have a significant influence on how we feel and our behavior on a daily basis. It is not something that is given enough thought to in medicine; however, it is something we pay a great deal of attention to because we understand the connections. \xa0\n\nHormones dictate everything from eating to sleeping and just about anything else in between. \xa0When hormones are balanced, then our behavior normal. If hormones are not balanced, then emotions and behavior will suffer. For example, if someone is under heavy stress, cortisol will rise. Over time, the rise in cortisol can negatively impact the sleep process, resulting in chronic insomnia. \n\nBelow are a few more examples of behaviors/emotions that are influenced by hormones:\n\n\nSleep \nHunger / appetite / food cravings \nSex Drive (libido) \nAddiction \nMotivation/drive/ambition\nFocus/concentration \nAnxiety/depression\nIrritability \nEmotional/weepy \nSad/melancholy \nGrumpy \n\nThe relationship between hormones and behavior is a very complicated topic and one we will dive deeper on in the future.
