077: Dynamics of an Entrepreneurial Family

WITH BRANTLEY WILLIAMS AND HARRISON WILLIAMS

Joining me on the podcast today are my sons, Harrison and Brantley. They are in their 20's and have of grown up with me starting businesses out of the house for over 20 years. Many of you, after listening to the podcast with my husband Joel, asked if you could hear from my sons talk a little bit about how me being an entrepreneur or having an entrepreneurial parent had impacted them as kids. What they've seen and the lessons they've learned or taken is where we dive in. Hopefully, you'll have just a bit more of an insight into our, I would say, family entrepreneurial journey, and then maybe use some of these questions and go back and ask your own kids. I think you might be surprised at the answers. So glad you're with us today. Listen in.

  • And that meant my work took a hit, I had been director of the women's ministry at our church and I stopped that I stopped all of my extracurricular everything so that I could do it. - Michele (20:10)

  • There were nights I was sitting in the middle of the night in our closet, working. Michele - (21:56)

  • When we’re at dinner, you're still thinking about work. Sometimes after dinner, you'll come in here and do more work. - Brantley (24:57)

  • So it is nice to be able to stay in the same industry but to do different things within that industry. - Michele (29:07)

  • Yes, being impulsive is the best and mom hates that for some reason. - Brantley (36:23)

  • You have to find what fits you. - Michele (49:18)

  • And the biggest challenge of being an entrepreneur and being a mom was balance and being present. - Michele (58:43)
