Dec. 6, 2022: McCarthy puts McConnell on notice
Six days after top congressional leaders emerged from the White House suggesting they would work together to pass an omnibus government funding bill before the holidays, Kevin McCarthy went on Fox News last night and sent a very different message.\n\u201cWe\u2019re 28 days away from Republicans having the gavel. We would be stronger in every negotiation. So any Republican that's out there trying to work with [Democrats] is wrong,\u201d he said to host Laura Ingraham, who used her monologue last night to rail against Democrats trying to \u201ctake advantage of the few weeks remaining to ram through as much sweeping change as possible.\u201d\xa0\nMcCarthy extended his warning to Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell: \u201cWait till we\u2019re in charge,\u201d he said.
