Sara Borjas introduces poems that focus on the connections between a particular, collective \\u2018us\\u2019\\u2014people connected by lineage or language, by place, or by the acts of writing and reading. She shares Layli Long Soldier\\u2019s exploration of wholeness and mother-daughter relationships (\\u201cWHEREAS her birth signaled\\u2026\\u201d), Juan Felipe Herrera\\u2019s centering of people and complexity (\\u201cLet Us Gather in a Flourishing Way\\u201d), and Richard Siken\\u2019s breaking of the fourth wall to implicate the reader (\\u201cPlanet of Love\\u201d). To close, Borjas reads her poem \\u201cNarcissus Complicates an Old Plot,\\u201d a celebration of mothers and daughters, language, and community rooted in place.
