Sodajerker is a songwriting team from Liverpool in the United Kingdom. Founded by co-writers Simon Barber and Brian O\\u2019Connor, Sodajerker is the creative outlet for two friends raised on the celebrated songbooks of such luminaries as Lennon and McCartney, Bacharach and David, Holland-Dozier-Holland, Goffin and King and The Chic Organisation. Like the profession from which they take their name, Sodajerker use their hard-won skills to conjure artistry from the everyday. Their songs have been heard on radio stations around the world and on a number of film soundtracks. Simon and Brian are also the co-hosts of the Sodajerker On Songwriting podcast, a programme featuring interviews with some of the world\\u2019s most successful songwriters.

LYRICS to SOMETHING THAT SOUNDS LIKE A SONG:

\\n

Radio plays
\\nNo. 1 hit
\\nBut is there really
\\nAnything to it
\\n
\\nMelody flows
\\nOn repeat
\\nUnderneath
\\nGeneric beat
\\n
\\nSoaring up
\\nCrashing down
\\nMissing meaning
\\nIt\'s only sound
\\n
\\nDon\'t listen hard, and don\'t listen long?
\\nTo something that sounds like a song
\\n
\\nThe production
\\nIs delicious
\\nOnly a little
\\nRepetitious
\\n
\\nIs the rift
\\nStuck in your head
\\nIs it important
\\nWhat was that he said?
\\n
\\nPeople listen all day long
\\nTo something that sounds like a song
\\n
\\nPause for a moment
\\nTo take it apart
\\nPeel back the pieces
\\nIs there a heart?
\\n
\\nA chorus to praise
\\nWisdom in verse?
\\nWill it change things
\\nFor better or worse?
\\n
\\nFighting injustice, righting a wrong?
\\nOr just something that sounds like a song?
\\n
\\nMake a video
\\nCover your traces
\\nDistract with images
\\nLots of pretty faces
\\n
\\nDon\'t listen hard, and Don\'t listen long
\\nTo something that sounds like a song
\\nSomething that sounds like a song
\\nSomething that sounds like a song

LYRICS to UNNECESSARY MUSIC:

\\n

The world is saturated with songs
\\nAnd we all just nod along
\\nThey have the patter and the beat
\\nBut they\'re whitebread food to eat
\\n
\\nUnnecessary music
\\nWhy do we produce it?
\\nCos it is more fun to do
\\nThan it is to listen to
\\n
\\nUnnecessary music
\\nPerhaps it\'s therapeutic
\\nBut they say a burden shared
\\nIs a burden doubled
\\n
\\nNo idea in there was conceived
\\nThe embryo can\'t be believed
\\nIt has a head and arms and legs
\\nBut take its pulse you\'ll find it\'s dead
\\n
\\nUnnecessary music
\\nWhy do we produce it?
\\nCos it is more fun to do
\\nThan it is to listen to
\\n
\\nUnnecessary music
\\nPerhaps it\'s therapeutic
\\nBut they say a burden shared
\\nIs a burden doubled
\\n
\\nWhat spurred you on to finish it?
\\nPut layers on the thinnish bit
\\nWhen you had half-written the song?
\\nWhy\'d you decide to carry on?
\\n
\\nUnnecessary music
\\nWhy do we produce it?
\\nCos it is more fun to do
\\nThan it is to listen to
\\n
\\nUnnecessary music
\\nPerhaps it\'s therapeutic
\\nBut they say a burden shared
\\nIs a burden doubled
