As podcast audiences continue to grow, developing a voice on the medium will become increasingly important for companies, industry and thought leaders, as well as politicians and entertainers. Podcasts can be molded to fit whoever you want to inform.

I speak to many people who tell me they want to start their own show but haven’t simply because they aren’t sure where to begin. Knowing how much time and the amount of resources you want to dedicate to the creation of high-quality content and its production value, will determine where you go next.

Podcasting has never been more accessible, at its most basic level all you need is a computer with an internet connection. For some, the low-cost route is totally fine. For others, relying on the internal microphone on their laptop won’t cut it as intended listeners sift through the vast numbers of podcasts in the market – many of which have professional-grade equipment and production. Now, before you order the nicest mic that Amazon Prime has to offer, let’s take a look at what you need to do before.

The most important thing to remember is the old adage: “Rome was not built in a day” and neither will your podcast! Creating a show with consistently high-quality content isn’t something you just wake up and do – it takes work! The same is true with building an audience, but we will save that for another post.

As we have said, podcasting takes work: you will have to give up something in order to dedicate time to making this podcast happen. But we can at least get a frame work of your show together in this article. Let’s Begin!
