PSI Charitable Giving In 2020

Published: Oct. 14, 2020, 9 a.m.

In this episode of the Planned Solutions Incorporated Podcast, Given all of the challenges that 2020 has brought, charitable contributions are more important than ever. Fortunately, there are a number of ways that donors can give in a financially smart way that will both benefit their finances and help the charities that they want to support. This may also be a good year to make contributions as many organizations are offering matching funds which increases the total impact of the donor’s giving. Also, Financial technology apps have become popular over the past several years. In many cases, these apps offer a more convenient way to conduct financial transactions. However, in some cases, users may find that they do not have the same consumer protections that are offered by traditional financial companies which could put their money and credit rating at risk. And, The question of whether to take Social Security benefits early, at full retirement age, or delay to age 70 can be complex. The best strategy may differ depending on an individual’s other sources of income, life expectancy, and financial goals. Therefore, it is important to get educated in order to make a well-informed decision of when and how to claim Social Security benefits. Plus a look at the Planned Solutions Incorporated Office Bulletin Board- The Harlan D. Wood Memorial Cancer Charity Golf Tournament was once again a big success. The tournament was quite different this year as there were no gatherings before the tournament and no banquet or silent auction afterward. Players were great about wearing face covering and maintaining social distancing while on the course. The winners shot a very strong 58 (-14 to par) using the scramble format edging out Chase’s “Dream Team” by one stroke. More importantly, this year we raised $4.725 for cancer charities this year bringing our cumulative total to 131.788. We would like to thank everyone who supported the event this year and in years past by attending the tournament, bidding on auction items, and contributing to cancer charities. We look forward to next year when hopefully we will be able to return to our normal format. But if not, we will continue to do what we can to support cancer charities while maintaining a safe environment.
