Also,Medicare Part B and Part D are subject to means testing. This means that higher income households typically pay more in monthly Medicare premiums than lower income households. However, in some cases an individual may have a life-changing event that will cause their income to decline. In these cases, they can submit Social Security Form 44 to request a reassessment of their Medicare premiums to have them reduced to the amount that corresponds with their ongoing income level.
