\\xa0Terri talks to\\xa0Micah Brown\\xa0about his experience as a founder of color in New York City and how we can change the funding dynamics for founders of color and female founders\\xa0and ultimately the definition of success.\\xa0 This is the\\xa0second part of\\xa0the interview that we abruptly cut off last week leaving you, hopefully, hanging on the edge of your seat for Micah\\u2019s experience with the diversity investor. • Micah talks about an experience with an investor with a diversity lens who led him to take a hard, corrective action.\\xa0 The investor said that Micah was example of a POC founder\\xa0that should be invested in although he doesn\\u2019t\\xa0actually invest\\xa0in diversity.\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0

• Micah points out some logic to the investor about his portfolio, the data around the startups in his portfolio,\\xa0and then the data about the POC company in his portfolio which was beating out all the other companies in the portfolio.\\xa0\\xa0
• Micah points out the importance of\\xa0deploying\\xa0raw intellect with these\\xa0investors to point out the flaws in the investors\\u2019 hypotheses to ultimately shift.\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0
• Terri talks about how difficult for people to shift off their value sets to\\xa0\\xa0
• Terri poses the question as to whether we are going to be able to get these primarily white male investors to shift in their investing or do we need to create a new ecosystem of funding.\\xa0\\xa0
• Micah talks about how difficult it is starting up a company and raising money and the difficulty for the investors to empathize with struggling founders of color.\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0

• Last year in NYC, there were 780 non-POC companies that got funding in 2017 and only 15.\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0
• He talked about the importance of naming and shaming to raise awareness and begin to affect change.\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0

• Terri talked about how Trump\\u2019s election triggered\\xa0many\\xa0people, including her,\\xa0to\\xa0no\\xa0longer be complacent, and\\xa0emphasized the\\xa0need to speak up and\\xa0take action.\\xa0 She was cautiously optimistic after the Justin\\xa0Caldbeck\\xa0scandal but then more optimistic after Harvey Weinstein and then the politicians in terms of we might be able to move the needle and move more quickly in leveling the playing field.\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0
• Terri talks about the importance of getting LPs to invest not because it\\u2019s a diversity play, but because it\\u2019s a good business play.\\xa0 Terri is concerned about the funding gap in later stages for these startups.\\xa0\\xa0\\xa0
