The primary electron transfer has been investigated\nby femtosecond time-resolved absorption spectroscopy\nin two chemically modified reaction centers (RC) of\nRhodobacter sphaeroides, in which the monomeric bacteriochlorophylls\nBA and BB have both been exchanged by 132-\nhydroxybacteriochlorophyll a or [3-vinylJ-132-hydroxybacteriochlorophyll\na. The kinetics of the primary electron transfer\nare not influenced by the 132-hydroxy modification. In RCs\ncontaining [3-vinyl]-132-hydroxybacteriochlorophyll a the primary\nrate is reduced by a factor of 10.
