In high school, my guest this week, Havilah Malone, wanted to debate, so she thought about studying law. And then she wanted to be in TV.

So she made her way there.

Eventually, when she was getting to the point where she felt numb to the impact of her news career, she realized she needed to make a change.

Because she had an experimental mindset, she had many different careers along the way. And eventually, she put together acting and debating and ultimately created a career for herself. How clever!

She shares these lessons and many more during our conversation:

-Do the thing, and you will gain the power.
-Keep trying things to figure out what's not right because clarity comes through experience.
-Surround yourself with people who are doing it (whatever "it" you want to be doing).
-Once you're immersed in it, insight is gained from community and people.
-We get what we need when we need it.
-You can always make a new agreement.
-You determine what success is, for you.
-Understand who and what you are because you are creating all of it.
-Every event is neutral, you give it the meaning.
