b'Talked with Officer William Dames, President and Officer Seth Buxton, Member of Palm Beach County Crime Prevention Officers Association. They do presentations to groups/companies/HOAs about public safety and basic tips/steps to take during an active shooter situation. Listeners need to be aware of their surroundings (not looking down at their cell phones), note where exits are located when you go somewhere. If someone is acting in an unusual manner, take note. Also, if a co-workers changes their dress, behavior it can be a sign that something is bothering them. They suggest talking with your company and making a plan in case of an emergency. Steps are run, hide or fight. If you can get out of the area run is the best option (pick a meet up location ahead of time). Also, in PBC you can use your cell phone to text 911 in case you need to hide. Lock the door, turn out lights, turn phone on silent. hide under desk and text 911 your situation/location. If you need to fight, commit 100% and fight. In an active shooter situation, law enforcement will first address/remove the threat/shooter and then assist anyone who may have been injured. Listeners are welcome to attend/join/volunteer with the PBC Crime Prevention Officer\'s Association. For more info listeners can go to https://www.pbccpoa.org/'
