Own It! 230 | How to Negotiate Any Creative Deal

Published: June 7, 2019, 7 a.m.

This week Judith has been thinking about how she would buy her next home and about the advice she gave her old friend about selling her business, and advising a client on how to structure a creative deal to sort out moving on from her home and going her separate way from her ex.

In The Show

Nicola’s enjoyed a reflective week, thinking about her family in England and whether or not to apply for a residency permit in Greece if Brexit goes ahead, or come home to be closer to her kids. Also she’s been engrossed in something new she’s learning and not managed to get out to the beach much due to some “funny” weather. Since getting out and about is the whole point of being there, well… you see her dilemma.

Judith has been out and about meeting a client friend for coffee at a beautiful garden centre, packing up to move to a new home tomorrow for the month of June and bagging some more housesitting gigs to look after cats Gracie, Pedro, Pixie, Smidge and Dizzy, thankfully spread across three homes, not all five cats in one which would be challenging to say the least.

What’s Fuelled Their Fire?

Nicola’s been engrossed in learning to trade with The Chart Guys, and Judith’s been advising a long-time friend a former employee how to sell her business, which inspires FOCUS of the Week.

Focus Of The Week

This week Judith has been thinking about how she would buy her next home and about the advice she gave her old friend about selling her business, and advising a client on how to structure a creative deal to sort out moving on from her home and going her separate way from her ex.

Judith refreshes Nicola of the basics of creating and negotiating any deal, reminds her she’s done one of those, and regales her with stories and examples. Nicola thinks her boundaries may be too squidgy (see word of the week) but Judith thinks this is about asking good open questions (like the best coaching), and working out what both parties want to achieve in their business and/or their life.

She also reminds Nicola that Own It! #207 was on a very similar topic: How to Buy A Business No Money Down, and challenges the listener to have a go, start simple! Or even help others on how to do it if this is your skill set. Don’t be hidebound by orthodoxy. This is a wonderful strategy for creative thinkers, people who make stuff happen and deal-makers.

Words Of The Week

Nicola chooses Boundaries and Judith picks Negotiation.

Project Updates

Nicola brings the listener up to speed with developments on her new website, the one she won a free design makeover for. But not the coding. Then she goes on to illustrate that she DOES know how to negotiate any creative deal!

Who Or What’s Impressed

Nicola is impressed when she realises she’s worked her way through the entire marketing funnel of The Chart Guys and ended up buying their $200 program and subscribing to their membership site at $99 a month. And, she says, they are not even internet marketers.

With permission from the sender to share her email anonymously, Judith reads the story of the minor and major wins shared by a listener who is grateful to have found via the podcast (and put into practice) the daily vibe-raising teachings of Esther and Abraham-Hicks on You Tube. The listener has practised it daily or almost daily since 7 th April until reporting her successes on 29 th May in the areas of health, wealth and good luck and happy accidents. It is an inspiring tale, not the first today.
