Many of us do not have the luxury of hunting turkeys only on those bluebird days when the winds are calm and the skies are cloud free. In fact, most of us have to turkey hunt whenever we get the chance to hunt whether it is raining, windy, cold, snowing, or just cloudy. Of all the weather conditions that we hunt in, my least favorite is the wind. Turkey hunting in the wind makes hearing many of the sounds a turkey makes very difficult. Most of us know that we need to sight in our deer rifle before every season, but so many of us do not even bother to sight in our turkey shotguns before we venture into the turkey woods. This is a mistake, and we owe it to the bird that we all love so much to make a clean, ethical shot on the bird's head/neck. Sighting in our turkey guns can certainly help us to miss fewer birds, but sighting in our turkey guns can also be a painful endeavor. So, I'm going to share with you my method for sighting in my turkey gun prior to turkey season each year. I think you'll like it because it will save you time, money, and the pain of shooting several 3.5" magnum turkey loads.
