The coffeeshop, as usual is World Cup Coffee and Tea at Northwest 18th and Glisan in Portland.\\nRyan has just gotten back from New York and I\\u2019ll be asking about what he did there. He\\u2019s working on a new album, he\\u2019s one of the leaders of the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble as well as its label PJCE Records, he\\u2019s one of the founders of the Montavilla Jazz Festival and he recently was named Editor of the Jazz Society of Oregon\\u2019s JazzScene Magazine.\\nAlthough, over the years, our conversations always turn to baseball (he\\u2019s a Giants fan), I\\u2019m going to try to keep this one on music. I don\\u2019t think I\\u2019ll be completely successful but I\\u2019ll try.\\nHe\\u2019s been in Portland just a few years, but he has truly made his mark since he arrived and it\\u2019s safe to say he\\u2019s a major player these days.'
