This show offers no advice or counsel related to law, finance, or health (either physical or mental).  You are listening at your own discretion and interpreting what you hear in your own way. But hey… look at you now! Listen in! Enjoy!

A name most won’t know but a man whose work you will, he was the guy behind the Anheuser-Busch brand as the VP over Global Marketing.  Now, a Broadway producer and NYU adjunct professor, Tony Ponturo brings his insights to us on Leadership and Life.

Key points:

  • People - each person is a brand
  • You have to be
    • Authentic
    • Real
    • And Reliable
  • Trust
    • If, as a leader, I trust you, then I will empower you.
  • Self-Direction
    • The only one steering your ship is you
  • Analogy to football’s offensive line
    • You have to be assertive and go for the things you want
  • Failure
    • Do NOT be afraid to fail
  • Learning
    • Leaders need to keep open.  They need to come to the table without a predetermined outcome, but be willing to listen.
    • Failure isn’t failure if you’re learning
      • Learn and adjust
  • Communication
    • Careful & Honest communication are the key to everything
    • Be transparent (but hold boundaries, too)
    • And remember so often, as you know, it’s not what you say, but how you say it

Tony embodies the #StartsWithOne spirit in that he engages in relationships and not transactions.  In order to get things done, it’s about the engagement first. Being trustworthy, seeing and listening to the other person first.  These are among the traits that make him successful!
