Perlmutter is a professor at and Dean of the College of Media and Communication at Texas Tech University. He received his BA (\\u201985) and MA (\\u201991) from the University of Pennsylvania Annenberg School for Communication and his Ph.D. (\\u201996) from the University of Minnesota. Perlmutter is the author or editor of nine books on political communication, war, and persuasion. He has also written several dozen research articles for academic journals as well as more than 250 essays for U.S. and international newspapers and magazines such as\\xa0Campaigns & Elections,\\xa0Christian Science Monitor,\\xa0Editor & Publisher,\\xa0Los Angeles Times, MSNBC.com.,\\xa0Philadelphia Inquirer, and\\xa0USA Today.\\nPerlmutter has been interviewed by most major news networks and newspapers, from\\xa0The New York Times\\xa0to CNN, ABC, and\\xa0The Daily Show.
