March 2015 Brand Zeitgeist: #RaceTogether, New Social Trends

We reflect on the brand builders we chatted with here on the podcast and also discuss the biggest stories and pop-culture funnery that made up our brand zeitgeist. To help with this, I\\u2019m joined by our special contributor Meghann Foster. Let\\u2019s take a look at March\\xa02015!\\nThe Brand Zeitgeist Report: March\\xa02015\\nTwitter Turns Nine\\xa0\\u2014 Okay. On the show we reported that Twitter turned 10 but that\\u2019s just because \\u2014 in honor of their\\xa0ninth\\xa0birthday \\u2014\\xa0they\\xa0released their\\xa0top 10 tweets. (Who doesn\\u2019t get 9 and 10 confused every now and then?!) Kidding aside, we looked at the top tweets and shared our thoughts on Twitter today. Speaking of social media use today \\u2026\\nInfinite Dial 2015, Meerkat, and More\\xa0\\u2014 Tom Webster was in the March zeitgeist! The month began with\\xa0Tom\\u2019s\\xa0episode of the On Brand podcast\\xa0and was followed by Edison Research\\u2019s most recent release of the\\xa0Infinite Dial study, which examines\\xa0the adoption of digital media. We\\xa0shared our favorite findings as well as our thoughts on how the new Meerkat app might follow some of these trends as well.\\n#RaceTogether Happened\\xa0\\u2014 Sorry Starbucks. We took a look at this\\xa0recent misfire\\xa0from one of the more venerable brands of our time. Starbucks has gotten involved in issues before such as the jobs crisis and the environment. Why did they stumble this time? Meghann shared some successful Chipotle\\xa0cup-based\\xa0conversation starters from the likes of\\xa0Toni Morrison\\xa0and\\xa0Amy Tan.\\nWhat brand has made us smile lately?\\xa0Meghann couldn\\u2019t wait to share how The Limited \\u2014 a beloved brand from her youth \\u2014 has found its way back to relevance with an assist from\\xa0Scandal and Shonda Rhimes.
